This new-fangled technology

Apparently, in the five years since I bought my last blow-dryer, technology has evolved. I bought one this evening that “dries hair fast” and has not only “unique sensor technology” but also “tourmaline ionic technology.” Apparently, this all means that, like the sensor sinks that supposedly turn on when you put your hands under the faucet, when I touch the blow-dryer, it will begin blowing air. That might be kind of scary for me when I’m mostly awake. We’ll see. According to the box, tourmaline ionic technology “delivers maximum hair-conditioning ions, faster-styling far-infrared heat, optimum shine and moisture retention.” Not sure I want moisture retained when I’m trying to blow it out of my hair, but we’ll go with it. I think marketing has evolved since I last made such a purchase; I especially like throwing in ion as a buzz word. But since this was the cheapest one (on sale), I’ll give it a whirl.

In other news, after the tumult of the holiday, I settled down to relax: I balanced my checkbook. Now all is right with the ions in my world.

Merry Christmas!

Three nephews, a gingerbread house, and one very happy cat (she got turkey for Christmas dinner) later, Christmas is over. The spouse says he’s writing our Christmas letter. We’ll see if it’s a New Year’s letter this year, or if it’s actually next year’s Christmas letter. Merry Christmas to all, and tomorrow I have to go to work. At least it will get me out of the house, away from the sugary leftovers. Apple pie at my house for anyone who wants it. And peanut butter pie. And a gingerbread house.

Coming soon to my living room

Season 1Season 2

If it’s good enough for Joss Whedon, it’s good enough for me. After going through Buffy and Angel withdrawal, I decided to find a new show. I saw Dark Angel and Dead Like Me on Sci-Fi, only to realize that they’ve both been cancelled. Then I heard from several people that I should see Veronica Mars. After viewing the first episode, I concur.?
