Ah, the Spring ritual: clearing the leaves from the yard that I swear we cleared last fall. This year, I plan to stay ahead of the weeds and do a better job on the garden. To this end, I went in with Turqois and bought a ton of seeds that we’re going to split. Weeds won’t have a chance to grow if I fill the beds with vegetables and flowers. That’s the theory, anyway.
Also on the agenda for this year: kill three or four more rose bushes. Last year, we successfully killed two, though I had to use an axe to get rid of the roots. Darn weeds. Burtmiah, you should be glad to hear this; we’re going to kill the guard rose that always tries to bite your hand when you come up the sidewalk.
Thanks to the 72 degree temperature this afternoon and the waning of my death cough, I raked, trimmed a few rose bushes (and decided which ones to kill this year) and admired the first daffodil blooms. I’m glad it’s Spring (and glad my electricity bill is going to go down).
