Once again, the wonders of the internet have improved my life. All of my mugs had become stained from coffee and tea and looked embarrassingly gross. I googled to find a way to clean them. The answer was surprisingly simple: baking soda. Now all my cups are clean and white. So, come over and I’ll make hot drinks.
Tonight, for date night, the spouse and I tried the new Vietnamese restaurant in town. We got noodle soup and cold noodle salad with peanut sauce (I forget the official names for these items, but they went something like Bo Phoy or Pho Bai). The soup had topping options such as bean sprouts, Thai basil, lime and sliced jalepenos. I didn’t go for the sliced things of fire, but I tried the rest in my soup and they were good. I even attempted eating with chopsticks. The spouse found this amusing to watch. Overall, it was pretty decent. The tofu was amazingly good.
But I still like Bangkok better: eggplant curry, squash curry, phat thai, fried rice, and the special vegetable curry. Mmmmm. Anyone for Thai food?
Today, I had a craving for a nutty monkey from the Juice & Bagel: Peanut butter, banana, vanilla frozen yogurt, and some magic ingredients, all swirled up into a yummy shake. Oh, and the garlic herb bagels with pesto cream cheese. Mmmmmm. Alas, Juice & Bagel is no longer around. Sigh.
After eliminating caffeine from diet (Mexican water process non-chemical decaf coffee trial) for several weeks, drinking a cup of espresso at 9 o’clock at night kills all possibility of sleeping through the night. Wide awake still at 3:45 a.m., having read a book and the entire internet. Addendum to note: Do not repeat late-night espresso incident.
We just received our annual report for the renewable energy wind project in which we participate. According to the report, we “helped avoid the release of 8.40 tons of carbon dioxide emissions” or the equivalent of planting 1,650.60 trees. That roughly offsets our carbon footprint of 8 tons. We already recycle and carpool to work, but I’m sure we could do more.?If I were a better person, I would bike, like some people?or?buy a Prius like other people. My garden experiment turned out badly last year due primarily to my late planting and lack of desire to weed.?Maybe I’ll try composting again this summer.?It’s a start.
From a book I just finished: “When you are in my position you will understand these things. You will also learn to be more discrete in your friendships.”
[Other character answers:] “Discrete? Discrete?” . . .
hahahahahahaha
That is all.
Currently: snowing with 24 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours.
Base: 135 inches
Top: 144 inches
This is the best snow I’ve ever seen at our ski area. We’re headed skiing tomorrow. I hope everyone else stays home to watch the Superbowl and leaves the snow for us.
