V’s six-month doctor visit, part 1

We took Veronica for her six-month visit to Dr. Wren, though it was a tad early. Part 1 of the visit was her checkup. Part 2 will be after she?s officially six months: then she can get her shots.

Since V had had a cough for two weeks that never developed into a cold but never went away, we thought we should do her six-month visit a little early and get her cough checked out at the same time. The spouse was also concerned about a rash-like occurrence that I insisted was just dry skin. The doctor said we don?t have to be concerned about the cough and that the rash is in fact dry skin (eczema). So, she?s getting double skin cream.

As for stats, she weighed in at 15 pounds, 3 ounces (43rd percentile); 25.9 inches (67th percentile) and 40.4 centimeters (7th percentile). Dr. Wren said her head size is just fine.

And everyone at the doctor?s office loves her pigtails.

In other news, Veronica has gotten very excited about sitting?and also about leaning to the side while sitting, which leads to her smashing her head into the blanket or carpet. And she still wants to eat the iphones. They must look tasty. Of course, I think she would settle for eating anything else, too. It?s now dangerous for her to sit with us at the table, because she lunges for our plates.

Next weekish: oat cereal.

Sleep!

Veronica slept through the night.

Surfin’

There?s a reason I try not to surf?etsy.com: I see too many cute things I want to buy. We?ll see how much is left after the pedicure and gelato(s). Maybe I?ll get a new pair of earrings, too. Maybe.

First fathers’ day

It?s the spouse?s first fathers? day. His present?a gadget of a very different sort?was delivered this morning by my father, who was keeping it in hiding until today. I?m not entirely sure yet whether he likes it. He may think I?m trying to stick him with extra yard work. He says he?s going to compare with his mom, who got one for mothers? day one year: a weed eater. His is a Stihl FS 55R?prosumer straight shaft but not solid shaft?and he should be able to make war on the daffodils and irises with it, which is his favorite weed eater activity.

High chair adventure
Baby meets high chair

Tonight, we put together the high chair and V tried it out. She played with her high chair toy and tried to eat my iphone. I’m sure the spouse will post some pictures. Or if I get unlazy, I might post some later.?

Only another week or two and we’re going to put the high chair to real use. Still trying to decide what to feed her first*: sweet potato, carrot, squash? What do you vote? (This is not a democracy. I will make the final decision. But you can still vote.)

*Very first up is oat cereal.

Spending my vacation

I am planning how to spend my vacation, quite literally. When I left my former bank, I had not used my vacation for the year, so it was going to be cashed out in my final paycheck. Yesterday, I got my final paycheck. (Had to remind them to pay me for my last week and my PTO, but once reminded, they did promptly pay me.) Now, I’m trying to decide how to spend it. I think gelato and a pedicure are in order. I will probably save what’s left after that.

Today

Today the spouse has put up with me for seven years.

Saving money

I think the spouse needs a lesson in saving. He claims to have saved us $200 today because Amazon canceled his Netbook order. Funny, this morning he was excited that he’s spent only $200 on a Netbook. Hmmm.
