Trying to find the best campground on the Oregon coast for family camping trip next summer and am really bummed that the yurts have sold out at all but one: Devil’s Lake campground in Lincoln City (literally, in the environs of the city, according to the state parks site; I’m not entirely sure how to picture that).
The question is, do we grab the yurt still left at this smaller campground or go for tent camping at one of the bigger, better known ones? Since the latter involves convincing the spouse to tent camp and then obtaining all the appropriate paraphernalia for said tent camping, this is quite a dilemma.
And in other news, the word broccoli looks wrong no matter how I spell it. brocolli. broccoli. Just plain wrong.
Opened an account at Chase today. Since they’re giving me $150 to do so, I figured I should take the free money. Their CD rates are less than pitiful right now, in direct contrast to last October, when I picked up a then-WaMu CD at 5% APY. I figure, I’ll make about $250 in interest on the CD, and since Chase wants me to deepen my relationship with them, I’ll happily take another $150 for using a debit card five times.
Of course, in order to open said account, I had to get an error on their website half a dozen times; call their website support (who cannot actually help with the website?they just help if you forgot your user ID) who directed me to call the regular 800 number to set up the account; get told by the call center that they cannot set up the account over the phone; go to the branch today to set it up in person. So maybe I’ve earned my $150.
No, spouse, you cannot spend it: we’re saving it.
Dedicating Veronica today: University Church, 9:30 a.m.
We packed the car and headed to Seattle Thursday night. Got in way too late after an extra stop to settle V, who refused to eat and get ready for bed when we stopped for a late supper at the worst Taco Bell ever. Don’t go to the Prosser Taco Bell. The rice tasted bad and the tortillas tasted refrigerated and slightly off.
Friday we stopped by the Apple store and Tully’s then hit the Bellevue Goodwill. Best Goodwill ever. I picked up three suits, a pair of shoes, several shirts; Ted found for Veronica her very own keyboard to type on and her very own laptop (v-tech) as well as a new piano-ish toy.
We dropped Ted off at Pax then continued shopping: Babies R Us, a baby clothing consignment shop and a quick trip to the grocery store. Picked Ted up from Pax and stopped at Cost Plus for cookies: McVities, Arnott’s, yum. And a french press!
Woke up to pouring rain this morning. I knew yesterday’s sunshine was too good to last. Church is on the agenda, then heading up to see Nathan and Laura.
Tomorrow: more Pax for Ted, and more shopping for me. Still to come: Target, Costco and whatever else we can think of. Vacation is for spending money.
According to the NYT, “The average iPhone owner pays AT&T $2,000 during his two-year contract ? roughly twice the amount of the average mobile phone customer.”
I have been packing all evening for our trip to Seattle tomorrow night. Ted and I used to pack together in our suitcase. Now, we are each packing our own bag because Veronica’s clothes and miscellaneous stuff is taking up the whole suitcase. And I’m not done yet. If the weather in Seattle were going to be sunny and beautiful, like it is in Walla Walla, then I could just pack summer clothes and call it good, but it’s supposed to be grey and rainy, so I have to pack cool weather possibilities also. And I have such a hard time judging how many outfits she’s going to go through in a day.
Veronica is (finally) cutting her first tooth. I felt it today at lunch. This discovery confirms my suspicion why she’s been waking up fussing three times a night all week long. I’m glad she’s not crying all the time, but wish she would sleep a little better so that I can sleep a little better.
To the neighbors: the lawn is mowed. I apologize, yet again, for letting it grow for two full weeks without a trim.
One more day to my extra extra long weekend. And it’s donut day. Hoorah!
