Thanks giving

Thanksgiving day highlights:

Sleep in (thank you to the husband, who played with V when she woke up before 6 a.m.)

Eat a lazy breakfast (waffles!)

Play with Veronica while Ted takes a nap

Go to parents’ and eat lots and lots of yummy food (stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, apple pie, pumpkin roll, yum) with family and lots of grandparents

Video chat with in-laws

Take V home when she gets overtired from all the excitement

Relaxing evening: husband listing items on ebay, I unboxing winter clothes I haven’t seen in 22-ish months. It’s like a whole new wardrobe.

I am thankful for my family: husband, baby girl, Percy cat.

Shoes!

I was looking for something to pad my order of baby wipe juice and wool wash and found the perfect item: shoes. Then, spent 30 minutes deciding which shoes. I could’ve bought a dozen pairs. With the spouse’s help, we got down to two: one for everyday and church and a pair of boots for outside.

Have I mentioned how easy it is to drop large sums of money on my little girl?

To the grocery clerk

You can keep my five cent per bag refund if you pack my bags as though your financial incentive weren’t to stuff them to breaking. Breaking my back, that is. If I have enough groceries for four bags, please do not try to put them all into two. And please don’t put all the cans into the same bag: if lifting the bag into my cart gives you a hernia, think of what it does to me when I have to carry it to my car.

Tax credit extension passes

The Senate voted today to pass the homebuyers’ tax credit extension. Now it’s just waiting for Obama’s signature. Finally found an article with details. You have to sell your current home when you purchase the new one in order to qualify, and you have to live in the new home for at least three years or you lose the tax credit, but at least it’s something I could take advantage of. Now if only they would do round two of cash for clunkers. (I read today that it was most commonly used to trade a prior Ford F-150 for a new one, gaining 1-2 mpg in fuel economy. What a waste!)

Monday night . . .

It’s Monday night, not Wednesday night*, for those of the male gender who may be confused.

Since the spouse got Veronica to sleep all by himself (while I was at finance committee), I suppose he earned enough husband points to splurge on extra L4D time. But tomorrow, he’s definitely going to have to watch a chick flick with me.

*And who came up with Wednesday night L4D night anyway? Wednesday night is business time.
Tax credit

Discussion now open on extension and expansion of homeowners’ tax credit.

Voted

Since my ballot is barcoded and therefore not secret anyway, I am going to tell you how I voted. I voted for Walter R. Cox three times. (I will not vote for an unopposed candidate.) Some day, the write-in Walter campaign will gain traction and win a race, some day.

I voted for partners’ rights and against Tim Eyman. I voted for Bryan Aulick and Clarence Anderson.
